Resume Blasters

Posting your resume on the internet is a bit like spitting into the ocean; as soon as you make contact, you quickly disappear into the mass of other job seekers.

What to do? Here are two "résumé blaster" strategies to use with your internet resume. I call them the "shotgun" and "rifle" approaches. The first scatters multiple hits in a general direction, the second involves careful targeting. Let's look at them in order.

The shotgun strategy offers you an efficient way to hit multiple recruiters at one time. In short, you can post your resume at one site and they ensure your resume is forwarded to multiple job boards and recruiters.

Sounds like a dream come true? Yes and no. Yes, if the posting site you select is reputable, yes if they provide a means to assure you they have delivered their promise, and yes if actual recruiters are receiving your resume. No, if they fail to achieve any of the above.

There's a lot of bad press related to resume posting services, so don't take any of the above lightly. I've found one company worth considering - one that answers "Yes" to each of the above criteria: Resume Rabbit. One-Stop Resume Posting to Over 75 Career Sites. Click Here

Reputable: Since 1999 Resume Rabbit has been a member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau. This means that if there are complaints they are handled promptly to the satisfaction of the user. The BBB states: "Resume Rabbit meets all BBBOnLine Reliability participation and Better Business Bureau membership standards."

Assured Delivery: within 72 hours, the company will post your resume to over 90 different internet career sites. How can you be sure? You can logon to check your on-line "status report" to check the circulation. Furthermore, most (but not all) participating sites will email you a confirmation notice.

Recruiter Participation: Up to 1.5 million employers and recruiters visit Resume Rabbit partners each day. Employers and recruiters will see your information on-line at one or more of the various sites and will contact you directly if they want to discuss your resume.

One of the features I like about Resume Rabbit is their resume builder. It's a no-cost, add-on to the site and designed to provide control over the appearance of your resume on their 90+ partner sites.

Speaking of cost, subscribers pay a one-time fee of $59.95. Most Résumé Rabbit partners will keep your resume in their database for 3 months to a year. Once again, do the math. If Resume Rabbit's one-stop cost beats the total price of posting your resume to a dozen or more separate job boards, then it's a no-brainer.

One last point. If you'd like to target your résumé posting, they have a limited feature that permits you to identify four employment categories: General Purpose, Information Technology, Sales & Marketing, and Accounting. It's a one-form solution to résumé distribution. One form gets your resume on 75 top career sites. Click Here

With the rifle strategy you want to find a web site that charges employers to post jobs. These are real jobs in companies with a recruiting mandate and budget. Like the want ads of old, these postings are categorized by sector. But unlike newspaper ads, the web site enables you to research the company, location and salary online, post multiple resumes, refine your search and much more. When you find the company-job-salary-location you like, you fire your application to the targeted recruiter, then prepare for any interview and negotiating opportunities.

There are a lot of web sites offering these services and most of them charge a membership fee. Therefore, research them carefully to ensure you receive value for your money. When the economy is expanding, these sites become virtual job hives. During economic contractions, many go out of business.

The best I've found is Hotjobs.com. Hotjobs.com is a subsidiary of the YAHOO! and it offers all the benefits of their brand and support. Bloomberg Personal Financial magazine ranked Hotjobs.com #14 in their "Tech 100" list. Furthermore, WEEDLE's surveyed internet job seekers who voted Hotjobs.com "Best General Purpose Job Board for Job Seekers". It's not WHO you know. It's WHAT you know. Get the news you need with HotJobs FREE newsletter for job seekers.

In addition to these superior tech credentials and user reviews, Hotjobs.com offers these features:

1. Resume posting
2. Recruiting companies seeking employees
3. Instant job application
4. Up to 5 Job Search Agents
5. User-controlled resume privacy
6. Thousands of opportunities in over 30 categories
7. US, Canadian, and International openings
8. Multiple search options by company or staffing firm
9. Industry news
10. Research on relocation
11. Career tips on destination communities
12. Facts on salary and benefits
13. Career advice

In summary, when using the rifle strategy, I recommend Hotjobs.com as your top choice for resume postings - and more. Are you ready for your next opportunity? HotJobs.com has thousands of jobs. Post your resume on HotJobs.com today!
